The Overview Report contains value and volume data for the total UK fitted kitchen products market with a particular focus on the fitted unit (cabinetry) sector.  The report is concerned only with kitchens sold for what can be defined as a ‘family’ home and excludes sales of products installed in commercial catering premises, office/shop kitchens, properties primarily used as short-term letting (eg holiday flats), or institutional settings (eg student accommodation).

Throughout the report ‘(Fitted) Kitchen Unit’ refers only to fitted cabinetry (wall and base cupboards, appliance housings, drawer stacks) and does not include tables, chairs, or stand-alone items such as welsh dressers.  ‘Kitchen Unit’ value excludes cost of worktops even if tops are supplied by the furniture manufacturer.  “Add on” sales where five or fewer units are sold are generally excluded from figures but an estimate of the value of ‘add on’ is provided for some total market size tables.

The door only replacement sector, now termed by JKMR the ‘Facelift Sector,’ is considered as a separate entity to the mainstream market and not included in data tables. However a special Sector Spotlight analysis provides trend data on this ‘alternative’ means for kitchen refurbishment.

For space purposes trend tables will not necessarily show data for every year.  Clients are welcome to request full time series data (covering at minimum all years from 2001) for all key indicators.
